Tanjung Tua Lang Fish Head Restaurant (督亚冷淡水鱼头饭店) @ Bandar Seri Petaling

Tanjung Tualang has always been famed for one thing, its prawns, hence earned the name “Freshwater Prawn Town”. We came across this restaurant with the similar name but promoting fish head instead. It’s seafood anyhow, no harm trying.

Non air-conditioned restaurant but very clean and tidy. Tanks of freshwater fish greet you at the entrance. No prawns in sight though!

Boiled Lotus Soup (滚莲藕汤) @ RM 12.00 ~ We don’t normally order soup as nothing beats home cooked soup but Cat felt like having it for dinner today.

Curry Spare Ribs (咖喱排骨) @ RM 19.00 ~ Meat was tender and glided off the bones without much effort. Curry was tasty but the presentation did give me some reservations when it was served.

Steamed Bean Curd with Fish Paste (咸鱼肉碎豆腐) @ RM 18.00 ~ I was expecting bean curds stuffed with “fish paste” but it was actually minced meat and “salted fish” instead. Their interpretation of fish paste (in the menu) was actually salted fish! Nevertheless, it was pretty awesome. Smooth bean curds and the salted fish complemented each other pretty well.

Steamed 3 Style Egg (三王蒸蛋) @ RM 10.00 ~ Smooth and silky. Sauce is not too salty, just perfect!

Four Heavenly Kings (四大天王) @ RM 18.00 ~ Combination of vege and chilies produced a heavenly dish. The flavors literally in your mouth as soon as you bite into them. One word, great!

Stir-fry Hong Kong Chinese Cabbage with garlic (清炒香港启兰苗) @ RM 11.00 ~ Young and crunchy.

Steamed Tilapia (清蒸非洲鱼) @ RM 31.20/RM2.60 per 100g ~ Fish is fresh with no presence of any mud smell whatsoever.

Excellent meal @ only RM 138.40 inclusive of a pot of hot Chinese tea for 6 (RM 6.00) and 11 large plain white rice (RM 13.20) Will come back to savour their signature fish after having a satisfying meal this round.
