Padi House @ Bandar Seri Petaling

Padi house is chain of restaurants with three outlets in Cyberjaya and one in in Jalan P.Ramlee and Equine Park respectively. Their latest addition is at Bandar Seri Petaling, a residential hub famously known for its vast variety of food outlets.

This simple yet tastefully renovated restaurant has been enjoying a steadfast band of loyal customers and having Pappa Rich for a neighbour has its ups and downs. Up as both buildings are attractive in contrast to each other and down for creating a parking mayhem! Trying to locate a parking spot can be nerve wrecking! Double parking is a common sight here.

Since wifey and I had no specific Valentine dinner plans, we thought this would be a perfect time to go as it’s still only 4.30pm and there’ll be less crowd.  We must be one of the “earliest” couple to celebrate!

The entrance greets us with an open seating area for smokers where comfy banquette seats are arranged to cater for easily 30 pax. A glass partition separates the non-smoking area which is fully air-conditioned for the comfort of non-smokers. F&B counter and cashier is located right at the back of the outlet. A specially constructed flight of stairs leads you to the  1st floor where more seating awaits.

After requesting permission to explore 1st floor which was closed at that time, I helped myself upstairs and started clicking away! 1st floor offers a spacious area that can easily accommodate 60-70 pax at a time. Hey, are you here for food or the deco, I asked myself??!! Well, a bit of both coz I was attracted by the look of the place from the outside. Ok! Ok! So much on the deco for now! Let’s proceed to check out its menu and see how it fare..

Mushroom Soup with Garlic Bread @ RM 4.90 ~ Creamy, tasted very bland and lacked of texture. Overly thick and not hot enough! Thick slice of garlic bread is commendable though! A 2/10!

Mexican Beef Taco @ RM 8.90 ~ Crispy Taco shell instead of the soft shell is used. The shredded Romanian lettuce, cheese, tomato puree and the tasty ground beef started falling apart as I was munching on them! Nice but not for those who can’t take strong beefy smell! A 7/10!

My tasty Mexican Taco fell apart and was all over my hands! Kleenex please!

Grilled Ribeye Steak with Smoky BBQ Sauce @ RM 24.90 ~ The Smoky BBQ sauce was nice but the “medium rare” Ribeye was a huge disappointment! Tough and full of veins tortured my gums throughout! I left half unfinished! A 2/10!

Grilled Lamb Chop with Cafe De Paris @ RM 16.90 ~ Sounds romantic, doesn’t it? De Paris.. hmmm.. perfect for Valentine’sDay! The slices of aromatic, juicy and tender lamb was entirely opposite from my ribeye! The Cafe De Paris sauce was simply amazing! Must try! A 10/10!

Toasted Hazelnut Cappuccino @ RM 7.90 ~ This beautiful rich, aromatic blend that tasted smooth and flavorsome. I find that it was reasonably priced for the quality you get and it’s worth paying every dollar for it! Must try, if you are a cappuccino lover! A 10/10!

This modest meal cost us only RM 69.85 inclusive of a 10% service charge (RM 6.35). I’m glad that wifey enjoyed her Valentine’s Day meal very much. It’s who you eat with and not so much of where it is, she said. Too bad my ribeye wasn’t satisfactory, otherwise it’d have been a perfect meal!

Padi House is basically a Fusion restaurant that serves some local fare in halal style besides western food and for those who feel like getting themselves “intoxicated” earlier in the day, this is the place where Happy Hour starts  as early as 1200 and last thru 2000, with a bucket of Carlsberg (5btsl) going at only RM 39.90 & Skol at RM 33.90. Reasonable ain’t it? Drink till you drop fellas!  As for tech savvy dudes, this place is WiFi free!
