Fook Hin Bak Kut Teh Restaurant (福兴肉骨茶餐室) @ Seri Kembangan

Cat knew my b’day is round the corner hence she is so thoughtful and suggested we have dinner together. She had been promoting this place Fook Hin BKT to me for awhile. I thought she was buying me BKT until she told me this is a restaurant actually sells seafood. That was quite a misleading name I thought.

Tanks of live seafood welcomes us at the entrance of the restaurant. Let’s see, there were mantis prawns, crabs, lobsters, geoducks, groupers and many more.

This is an “air-condition-less” eating place but very airy therefore I didn’t feel hot nor stuffy.

Steamed Live Prawns (清蒸明虾) @ RM 39.00 (500g) ~ Fresh, sweet and good!

Kung Pao Chicken (宫保鸡丁) @ RM 15.00 ~ Stir-fry diced chicken with dried chillies, green bell pepper and cashew nuts. Bitter and a starchy. Give it a pass!

Dongpo Meat (東坡肉) @ RM 18.00 ~ Aromatic, tender and juicy is the word! The amount of fats would definitely scare the ladies away!

Steamed Haruan/Snakehead (清蒸生鱼片) @ RM 49.00 (Large) ~ This signature dish that won praises from Cat and one of the reason we were here turned out to be a huge disappointment! It wasn’t fresh and the texture tells! Complained but fell on deaf ears! The lady at the cashier just couldn’t be bothered!

Crabmeat Beancurd (蟹爬豆腐) @ RM 15.00 ~ I’ve never seen this dish cooked this way before, have you? The beancurd used is not the kind we normally had. Tasted bland and nothing worth remembering.

Boiled Cockles (炉蚶) @ RM 10.00 ~ After I finished taking photos of the dishes, I realized that this plate of cockles (蚶) were no where to be seen. So fast finish up I thought? Nope, it’s so fast got rejected!! Reason? Not fresh again! Damn! What’s with them today?

Sweet & Sour Crab (甜酸螃蟹) @ RM 60.00 (2 crabs) ~ This was the last dish and we were not putting too much hope on it after how the steamed Haruan and the cockles turned out to be. We were wrong! The crabs were fresh and the sauce tasted pretty good . Finally there’s something to make up to those failed dishes.

Total meal came to RM 212.20 inclusive of (RM 10.60 for plain white rice) and (RM 5.60 for a pot of hot Chinese tea). Overall experience wasn’t that satisfying based on the attitude of the lady at the cashier and the mediocre food served. Well, maybe they don’t care as this place have many customers and was previously patron by well know HK food critic ToTo. Will I come back? Don’t think so!
