You Fook Seafood Restaurant (友福海鲜饭店) @ Bandar Baru Nilai

After attending to some family chores in Bandar Baru Nilai, we drove around the area scouting, in hope of finding a decent Chinese restaurant as most of the restaurants in this area cater for Malays. We were about to give up hope when we chanced upon this restaurant by the name of You Fook.

Operating from a corner unit, You Fook was located behind Tesco hypermarket. Its typical coffee shop setting with only ceiling fans were comfy enough as its half-hill location welcomed strong forces of wind. Parking was a aplenty as it could be due to the fact that today was a public holiday.

Claypot lamb belly (瓦煲羊腩煲) @ RM 12.00 ~ According to Chef Choy, they were the only restaurant selling this item in this area. This was somewhat different as it came with sliced carrots and green beans which was rather unusual for this dish. Looked very appetizing but lamb belly was seriously chewy and lacked flavor.

Claypot vinegar pig trotter (猪脚醋) @ RM 10.00 ~ This is one of the  traditional confinement dish for the Chinese as the they believe the black vinegar helps blood circulation and purifies the blood, the ginger helps to get rid of wind in the body and the collagen in the trotters helps to strengthen our joints and ligaments and most importantly, beautifies our face!  The meat was succulent and the accompanying fats gave a good mouthfeel. Gravy was not too sourish and really good to drink

Bak Kut Teh (瓦煲肉骨茶/两个位) @ RM 16.00/2 pax ~ We could smell the BKT aroma of the mixed herbs and spices coming from the back of the kitchen the minute we stepped into YF and we did not hesitate to place order for a pot for 2 person. The amount of beancurd skin, fried tofu puffs, mushrooms were generous but the pork belly (半肥瘦) on the other hand was not succulent enough and the soup was too rich giving it a slight taste of bitterness.

Stir-fry water spinach with dried shrimp paste (马来风光) @ RM 8.00 ~ Usage of belacan was minimal but good enough to bring out the flavor and the water spinach was crunchy.

Egg foo yung (芙蓉蛋) @ RM 10.00 ~ Aromatic, flavorful and good!

We requested for a pot of boiling water for our Pu-erh (普洱) which we brought along. How can we enjoy a pot of BKT without a pot of good Chinese tea?

Lunch came to RM 64.60 for the above dishes inclusive of a pot of hot water (RM 2.00) and 6 plain white rice (RM 6.60). Nothing fantastic but no complaints as the prices charged were reasonable and most of all, good enough to fill us up with some Chinese cooking in this secluded area.

Pegasuskl must be a new comer to chinese dining. Bringing own tea leaves is very common to those who really enjoy a nice pot of tea. Just my two cents opinion. 😉 Anyway, love your blog sumptuous, especially the pictures and the details.
