MIL’s b’day is coming soon so we thought we give her a treat before our trip to Hong Kong. As she wanted to dine just around the neighborhood we brought her to this home cooked styled restaurant after reading some good reviews by a few foodies.
Located in the main road directly across the Puchong Public Bank (if not mistaken), finding this restaurant is no big task. Anyway, I have the coordinates provided so, just follow it. Non air-conditioned but comfy enough to enjoy your meal even during the hot hours of lunch.
Fried egg with onions (洋蔥煎蛋) @ RM 8.00 ~ One word, salty!
Claypot steamed Tilapia (生煲清蒸金凤鱼) @ RM 28.00 ~ Fish is fresh and steamed to perfection with good amount of sliced gingers and scallions. Mixtures of soy sauce and Chinese wine enlightens the fish.
Stir-fry French beans with dried shrimps (虾米贵豆苗) @ RM 10.00 ~ Beans are crunchy and the dried shrimps are crispy. Nicely done!
Mongolian Styled Spare Ribs (蒙古式排骨) @ RM 18.00 ~ Aromatic with a tinge of spiciness. Meat was too tough and we did not enjoy it bit!
Clams in Superior Broth (上汤啦啦) @ RM 17.00 ~ This is undoubtedly good. Meat is well cooked and the broth is flavorful with a strong scent of the Chinese cooking wine. Indeed a signature dish!
For RM 91.50 this meal came with 2 small rice (RM 1.60), 2 large rice (RM 2.40), a plate of peanuts (RM 2.50) and a pot of hot Chinese tea (香片/RM 4.00). Meal was just ok but nothing really super to shout about. Service is left to be desired coz the guy who took our order just couldn’t be bothered with our dissatisfaction over the Mongolian Ribs and the fried egg. He was just oblivious to our complaint! Very disappointing indeed! Guess besides whipping up some good dishes, service is just as important, especially in a place like Bandar Puteri where restaurants are in abundance!
