Restoran Chuan Kie ( 全记小菜馆) @ Goh Tong Jaya, Genting Highlands

Today, I made my way to Genting Highlands again for work. As it was way passed lunch hour, I was extremely hungry and wanted food real badly. CK suggested a restaurant in Goh Tong Jaya which is reputable for its good food and HK celebrities patrons. Whoa… will I bump into one?

There are 2 Chuan Kie (全记) in the same row of shops in Goh Tong Jaya, the other by the name of New Chuan Kie (新全记) which is located further down the road. Both outlets owned by the same person.

Chuan Kie (全记) has 2 adjoining units but the one I dined in can accommodate less than 10 tables only at any one time. No a/c as the weather here is chilling enough.

Chinese Jasmine Tea (茉莉花茶) @ RM 2.00

Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish (咸鱼花腩煲) @ RM 13.00 ~ Generous amount of salted fish made it very aromatic but”overly” salty and the absence of dried chillies and scallion made me wonder if this is the correct dish they sent!!?? One word, TOO SALTY! A 3/10!

Stir-fried Asparagus (清炒蘆筍) @ RM 10.00 ~ Simple yet nice and crunchy! An 8/10!

Steamed Silver Catfish (清蒸白蘇公) @ RM 32.00 ~ Overly cooked, meat tastes somehow funny, spells stale! Very disappointing for a simple dish like this! A 1/10!

This meal came to RM 59.40 inclusive of 2 steamed plain white rice (RM 2.40). No service and government tax. I agree that the price is very reasonable but the meal was a real let down! So much of celebrities choice!
