Ah Seng Bak Kut Teh (啊星肉骨茶) @ Bandar Seri Petaling

BKT to many is an acquired taste. They are easily available at any corner of the street, especially where the Chinese community are. BKT franchises are mushrooming rapidly as well, with better presentation, promotions and lots of other gimmicks to attract customers. Each of them claim to prepare the most original and the best in town. To me, those are not really that important. Taste is the factor, be it in a good environment or even by the roadside. I’ve been patronizing this little stall in Bandar Seri Petaling for quite awhile and it has not let me down thus far..

A simple sign displaying some items sold here such as wine soup chicken, curry fish head, curry spare ribs, vinegar pig trotter, braised pig trotter & ginger duck!

Friendly stall owner, Mr. Hung a.k.a Ah Seng busy preparing our meal. He’s a butcher by day, hence made it easier for him to choose all the good pork parts for his BKT business in the evening.

Our order being cooked. We can even smell the aromatic flavor from afar. Getting hungry!!

“Sinful” Vinegar Pig Trotters (豬腿醋) anyone?

Jasmine Chinese Tea (茉莉花茶) @ RM 1.00/pax ~ You’ll need these to flush all the grease away from the sinful fats in the pot of BKT! Just look at the rims of the cup! It’ll scare the sh…t out of the “kwai loh’s” if they are being served with these stained cups! Some say it’s good but others think otherwise. You say?

Blanched Chinese Lettuce (玻璃生菜) @ RM 5.00 ~ Some fiber intake to balance up with the fatty BKT.

Deep Fried Crullers (油條) @ RM 2.00 ~ We don’t often order the beancurd puff (RM 2.00) as wifey is not a fan but fried crullers is always a must. It’s quite crispy too unlike a lotsa places that serve soggy ones!

Claypot BKT (煲仔肉骨茶) @ RM 16.00 (2 pax) ~ We ordered a small pot which consists of zhu zhang and pork ribs that also come with adequate amount of pork tripe. The meat of the zhu zhang is succulent and is accompanied by a small portion of fats while the meat from the pork ribs is easily detached and cooked to perfection. Soup is so savoury but not thick, unlike the typical Klang version. No sign of thirst after finishing every drop of it. An additional of RM 1.50  if you chose to add mushrooms/needle mushrooms.

Decent meal which cost us only RM 25.00. Do check it out if you happen to be around the neighborhood. Btw, this BKT stall operates inside Golden Chopstick coffee shop.
