Fatty Bak Kut Teh & Fish Head (肥脂肉骨茶/蒸鱼头)@ Jalan Klang Lama

After hearing some good feedback on this BKT stall, wifey and I decided we should check it out since we were both craving for a good pot of hot bak kut teh. Located along Jalan Klang Lama, opposite Maybank, Fatty BKT & Fish head is definitely not a difficult place to find.

It bothers me a lot when an eating place is fully managed by foreign workers!

At Fatty’s, one may choose to dine al-fresco “if” dust is not an issue or you may opt to sit inside the shop itself, which is so much cleaner. As seen from the pic above, the stall is manned by foreign workers and Fatty is nowhere to be seen! Honestly, this certainly doesn’t augur well with me!

Bird’s eyes chilies, garlic, thick soy sauce is a definite for most BKT lovers but we normally gave garlic a miss. The aftertaste is arghh.. pungent!

Blanced Chinese Cabbage with Oyster Sauce (炉蚝油生菜) @ RM 5.00 ~ Crunchy and fresh. Sauce if not overly sweet.

Fried Crullers (油条) @ RM 2.00 ~ Soggy and tasted like it’s been kept there for days! As this is an important compliment in a BKT meal, it shouldn’t turn out this way. Horrible! Worst I’ve tried!

Claypot Bak Kut Teh (煲仔肉骨茶) @ RM 18.00 (2 pax) ~ We ordered the soft bone(软骨) and the elbow (豬肘) but we did not expect too much out of it when this pot of hot BKT was served as the color itself wasn’t too appealing. Well, looks may be deceiving but sometimes it does count. Soup tasted different from most of the Klang styled BKT we tried and definitely not to our liking! The meat was overcooked and gave us some hard time to chew them down.

Totaled at RM 30.00 with a pot of Chinese Tie Kuan Yin (铁观音) tea which is considerably reasonable but I would not come back for more BKT here. The next visit would be either on the steamed or curry fish head. Hope that won’t disappoint! Till then…
