Restoran Wang Wang Nine (旺旺9清蒸鱼头) @ Happy Garden, Jalan Klang Lama

It’s another Sunday and E wanted BKT but the rest of the family preferred steamed fish. Nowadays, most of the restaurants that serve steamed fish also offer a variety of other dishes, namely bak kut teh, vinegar pork leg, chicken rice wine, etc.

Unfortunately the restaurant that we intended to visit serve only steamed dishes and mostly fish heads. Too bad son, your BKT meal will just have to wait!

Steamed Song Fish Head with Douchi (豆豉蒸松鱼头) @ RM26.00 (L) ~ This “Soong” fish head is fresh and meaty.  The accompanying fermented black bean/douchi (豆豉) gravy is good with plain white rice.

Stir-Fried Australian Lettuce in Oyster Sauce (清炒油麦) @ RM 7.00 ~ Lettuce! T’s favourite! Crunchy and good!

Homemade Bean curd with Shallot Oil (自制葱油豆腐) @ RM 7.00 ~ Smooth and silky!

Steamed Ginger Chicken (蒸姜葱鸡) @ RM 15.00 The tenderness of the chicken meat is commedable but the gravy is rather bland. A mediocre dish.

Steamed Golden Pomfret (清蒸黄金鲳) @ RM 29.00 ~ Fish is fresh and the gravy is concocted in a very aromatic manner.

Totaled at RM 94.70 complete with 7 plain white rice (RM 7.70) and a pot of Chinese Jasmine tea for 4 (RM 3.00). Very reasonable I must say. Will come back but hopefully they can add more dishes to their menu. This restaurant serves mainly steamed fish head at the moment with only a handful of other dishes to select from. It’s normally packed at dinner time, so come early or you’ll end up queuing for a table!
