It’s been a while since we last met up with Uncle R & Aunt S, so wifey suggested we meet up for lunch. We were surprised that they chose shabu shabu instead of the normal sit down Chinese meal as preferred by Uncle R. Honestly, this is our 1st time having shabu shabu for lunch as we always have it during dinner.
Plus One Shabu Shabu is located at the new wing of 1 Utama Shopping Center. They have another outlet in Jalan Imbi which only opens for business at 1700 but will last till 0300 daily. Good place for supper after some a good “yum sing” session!
The outlet is very spacious and can easily accommodate up to 150 pax at one time. 3 private rooms for 10-12pax is also available those who prefer more privacy.
Homemade Sauce Bar ~ Chose from any type of sauce ranging from Hawaii, Thai Chili, Tom Yam and many more other varieties. Remember, it’s not FREE but chargeable at RM 1.00 per plate!
Each seat comes with a control panel where one can adjust the tempeature to boil the soup at their preference.
Menu with pages of different combination sets and a’la carte to chose from. First timers need at least 5 minutes to decide! I took more than that!
Sugar Cane Herbal Tea @ RM 10.00 ~Aunt S ordered this sugar cane which is good, especially after some spicy soup! A 7/10!
Teochew Broth @ RM 4.00 ~ Sourish and wifey liked it! An 8/10!
Pork Bone with Corn Broth @ RM 1.00 (additional when order mixed set) ~ T&E both had this and I tried. Sweet but must have the bone removed before the shabu session starts coz it took up more than half the space in the pot! An 8/10!
Sichuan Hot & Spicy Broth @ RM 0.00 (c/w set) ~ I was tempted by the picture in the menu therefore I went for this pot of spicy soup that rocked my tongue! Was good in the beginning but turned slightly bitter towards the end. Maybe I heated it too long and burnt the dried chillies! Still, quite nice though! An 8/10!
Pepper Pork Broth @ RM 4.00 ~ No chance to try coz this is uncle R’s! Heard it was ok!
White Fungus Papaya Broth @ RM 0.00 (c/w set) ~ Aunt S’s choice. Must be sweet and good judging by the amount she downed and of course the look of her face.
Mixed Set @ RM 16.90 ~ Standard mixed set comes complete with a single prawn, 2 scallops, 2 fish balls, enoki mushroom, crab stick, slices of fish, an egg, beancurd sheet, sliced chicken, noodle and lettuce as plate lining. Fresh and won’t go wrong, can it? A 7/10!
Mutton Set @ RM 19.90 ~ Slices of mutton comes with the standard mixed set, minus the scallops! Like it heaps! A 10/10!
Rib Eye Set @ RM 19.90 ~ This set comes just like the mutton set. I liked it as much as I do with the mutton. Both are great! A 10/10!
Homemade Ball Set @ RM 19.90 ~ Uncle R ordered this set that comes with pork & fish balls. We tried and it’s good! A 9/10!
Konnyaku Noodle @ RM 5.00 ~ Something different but one is suffice for me! A 4/10!
Mixed Mushroom @ RM 15.00 ~ Assorted types of mushroom. Nice! An 8/10!
Everyone was full after finishing everything on the table. Haven’t had so much for lunch in a long while! Totaled at RM 147.95 inclusive of a 10% service charge (RM 5.00 for 5 plates of homemade sauce). A good shabu lunch experience and had a great time doing some catching up. Lastly, would like to thank Uncle R for the treat! Next round on me sir!
