We were out of idea as to what to have for lunch in Bandar Puteri Puchong. After parking our car we strolled by the eateries and stumbled upon this hakka restaurant, Chi Ka Yin. We’ve wanted to try them sometime back during one of our rounds but decided against it but instead, we settled for Nyonya Imperial which is just a few doors away. Today we are definitely gonna walk in and see if their Hakka food is up to our expectation.
Salted Vege Fish (咸菜焖鱼/小) @ RM 15.00 (small) ~ I’ve never tried this dish before and I’m pretty certain I won’t order it again. The fish is boring after deep fried and the texture just did not give it a good mouth feel. To be fair, the sourish gravy is pretty tasty.
Braised Duck (卤鸭/小) @ RM 12.00 (small) ~ Meat is tough. The missing fats could be the reason. Didn’t know why we ordered this since this is not their forte!
Chinese Steamed Egg (蒸水蛋) @ RM 7.50 ~ Tasted ok but surely the roughest ever steamed egg I’ve ever ordered!
At only RM 48.10 tea (3.00) water x 2 (1.00) rice x 3 (3.60) I wouldn’t say it’s expensive but certainly not as authentic as I’ve expected. I still think Pudu Ulu is a better bet for authentic Hakka cuisine!
