It’s another lovely Sunday morning and I woke up a very hungry man! We started driving around the neighborhood hoping to discover something interesting to keep our growling tummies in check!
My cravings soon died off after driving around for more than 45 minutes without any success. We finally ended up in Bandar Puteri Puchong where most of the eateries were thronged with hungry souls. Since we weren’t too keen in waiting for tables, we walked around after parking our car and discovered this outlet with lotsa Bruce Lee posters hung on its interior wall. For one moment, I thought I stepped into the Kung Fu Restaurant which is a very popular fastfood chain in China. It was not! It’s just a nyonya restaurant! Well, let’s find out when was Bruce Lee ever in Malacca?!
Cendol Baba, the mistaken Kung Fu Restaurant from the corridor!
“May the business propers” That’s what it reads i guess.. I’m always curious about those red stickies. Used to see them in kampung houses but never knew what it’s actually for?? anyone??
Chinese porcelain chopstick cannister which i like. Reminisce of the past.
Baba Laksa @ RM 6.90 ~ I’ve always liked curry with thick coconut milk in the soupbase and the nyonya version serves me just right! I know what you’re thinking of.. unhealthy! Yeah, I know but it’s not a daily affair ok. The baba laksa here is served with a spoonful of mackarel, onion rings, cucumber slices, half a portion of boiled egg and a piece of prawn. I had mine with meehoon & mee. The usual beancurd puff is being substituted by the beancurd skin which had a strong odor of used oil and the soup was a little sweet to my liking. A 6/10!
Nyonya Asam Laksa @ RM 6.90 ~ The only difference between this and the Baba laksa is the soupbase, which is pungent and piquant. As the name Asam suggest, this is sourish. Everything else that comes with this order is just about the same as BL. Wifey actually prefers this concoction to the Penang version as she’s not fond of prawn paste and thick soup . Not bad la! A 5/10!
Tangerine Juice @ RM 2.00 ~ Wifey’s thirst quencher is so… not good! A 1/10!
Baba Cendol (original) @ RM 3.90 ~ This bowl of finely shaved ice is laden with coconut milk (santan), palm sugar syrup (gula melaka) and also with the green worm-like jelly (cendol) hidden beneath made us sluurp it up within minutes! A very popular order here! A 9/10!
This brunch came to RM 17.75 after a generous 10% discount from the owner. Don’t ask me why. Generous or maybe he likes my face! Apart from what we ordered, they do have other variety of noodles with gravy or non-spicy soupbase. Side orders such as fish tofu and seafood soup is available too. If you are interested in their cendol, they have the mango, durian, durian+mango and even the 8 precious version. Service is commendable! Check it out!
