Sushi Zanmai @ The Gardens, Mid Valley

Whenever we feel like having a nice sushi meal, the 1st response from the kids would  be Sushi Zanmai in The Gardens. This place is always their favorite. Food is good and price is extremely reasonable but the queue can be very long and frustrating. A pre-booking is advisable but only allowed a day before.

Outlet is always packed with people.

Sashimi Moriawase (Asama 3 kinds) @ RM 28.90 ~ 4 pieces of fresh Salmon, Tuna and Yellow tail slices which are freshly sweet, moist and thick. Wonderful! Everyone’s favorite! A 10/10!

Soft Shell Crab Maki (Makimono) @ RM 6.80 ~ A must for wifey whenever she visits any Japanese restaurant. She really has a thing for this dish. The  crackling crisp deep fried soft shell crab stuffed in sushi rice, flying fish roes and seaweed always gives her a smile when savoring this! A 10/10!

Gyuniku Tataki @ RM 15.80 ~ Thinly sliced surface seared beef cooked to perfection. Juicy and succulent when prepared in “medium rare” Remember, medium rare coz it turned out very tough when it was over cooked the previous time when we did not specify! Mostly eaten rare but thought it’s not advisable for kids! E’s favorite! A 10/10!

Dipping sauce that came with the Gyuniku Tataki but E never uses it. He prefers it neat!

Gohan @ RM 3.00 ~ Steamed white rice for E to go with his Gyuniku Tataki. His norm combo!

Niku Udon @ RM 10.80 (small) ~ Generous amount of thinly sliced beef and springy udon in the perfectly boiled soup base makes it so delicious! The other good thing is it comes with 2 different sizes and the small order fits T’s tummy just nice! Her favorite! A 10/10!

Yakiniku Don @ RM 10.80 (small) ~ Juicy seared beef slices cooked well with onions on top of steamed white rice makes a perfect match. Love it! A 10/10!

Grilled Salmon Head (Yakimono) @ RM 12.80 ~ ½ portion of salmon head grilled with terriyaki sauce. Squeeze in some lemon juice to bring out the delicious flavor of this fresh fish head! A 10/10!

Golden Coral Roll @ RM 12.80 ~ Sushi roll topped with deep fried carrot shreds, lobster roe, tamago, cucumber wrapped with tuna belly. The sweetness of the tuna belly suggests its freshness! This item is on promotion! A 10/10!

This lovely meal costs us only RM 122.75. Absolutely reasonable and this is one of the reason why this place is always packed with sushi lovers! Service was rather slow today as wifey have to remind the waiter 3 times just to bring E’s gohan and my lemon slices were not included in my grilled salmon head! Hope this won’t occur again during my next visit! Nevertheless, this was an enjoyable meal and gets a full score!
