KTL Restaurant (啤律)光头佬饭店@ Taman Segar, Cheras

Every visit to KTL (bald head/光头佬) has always been pretty satisfying and we never doubt the freshness of the food served, therefore we did a re-visit today. Operating from a humble roadside stall before moving into a shoplot goes to prove that this place has its faithful group of clienteles. Food has to be good and the charges must be reasonable in order for customers to return. This place is normally packed by 1900 as the crowd usually comes in as early as 1800 but the restaurant’s already half full by the time I reached there at 1740! People tend to get hungry earlier on weekends, I reckon.

Soy Steamed Silver Catfish (酱油蒸白苏公) @ RM 27.00 ~ Another one of our favourite fish when we dine here but the sauce was too salty today. Nevertheless, the fish has firm meat and sweet taste. Only a 6/10 this round for being too salty!

Steamed Tilapia In Soy Bean Paste (酱蒸金凤鱼) @ RM 19.00 ~ The Tilapia was fresh and steamed to perfection albeit the soy bean paste being a let down as it was “super freaking” salty! Never had this disappointment previously! The chef must be real h–rny today! All dishes were too salty!! (hum sap bugger)!! Only a 4/10!

Blanched Lettuce (炉油麦) @ RM 5.00 ~ Normal la but passed! An 8/10!

Steamed Egg Custard (蒸水蛋) @ RM 4.00 ~ A simple homemade dish and yet prepared deliciously here at KTL. So silky smooth it glides down your throat before having any chance to chew it! A norm when we visit! A 10/10!

Steamed Pork with Salted Fish (咸鱼蒸猪肉) @ RM 6.00 ~ Pork was slightly overcooked again just like my previous visits and the low-grade salted fish is used judging by the aroma it produced! Well, what do you expect to get at this price?? The gravy goes well with my rice though! A 5/10!

Totaled @ RM 69.50 inclusive of 5 plain rice (RM 5.00) and a pot of Chinese tea (鐵觀音)
for 3 (RM 3.50). Honestly, the pricing is so reasonable and the dinner could have been well worth my drive here if only they could have controlled the level of salt usage on certain dishes. Well, KTL is still a recommended place for steam dishes and simple dining, but must emphasize on the salty level when placing your order!
