Lou Peng You Seafood Restaurant (老朋友海鲜饭店) @ Taman OUG, Jalan Klang Lama (Ceased Operation)

We noticed this restaurant as we were leaving Hoi Sum Kopitiam after our dinner the previous week and saw a huge crowd visiting this restaurant. We vowed to check it out the following week so, here we are!
The crowd was only a handsful when we arrived as it’s only 6pm. We are early eaters!

Soon, the lady captain (in red) came and took our order. We were rather surprised that she recommended mostly the expensive fish i.e Star Grouper, Pomfret (星斑, 鲳鱼) and some other expensive Groupers!! They don’t even have silver catfish (白蘇公) or tilapia (金凤鱼) for that matter. Btw, this is just a normal chu char (煮炒) in a  coffee shop as far as i’m concerned but it reads seafood restaurant on their signage. As this is our first visit, we wanted to try something common to see how good the chef’s are! No worries, we’ll  give the fish a miss this round!

The Big Menu ~ All the dishes available at this seafood restaurant

Steamed White Rice (白饭) @ RM 2.00 per pot ~ Super reasonable & generous for this serving! Eat till you drop!

Sweet & Sour Pork (咕嚕肉) @ RM 10.00 ~ If you’re expecting some crunchy pork bites, you’ll be sorely disappointed. The batter is very thick and the pork bits are miserably tiny. Tasted decent though.

Crabmeat bean curd (蟹爬豆腐) @ RM 10.00 ~ Taste was acceptable but rather salty. No one beats Yin Her so far on this dish!

Claypot Pork Belly with Salted Fish (咸鱼花腩煲) @ RM 12.00 ~ Generous portion of pork bellies but the I can hardly taste the salted fish. It taste fine overall.

Stir-fry Romaine lettuce with garlic (蒜茸炒油麦) @ RM 8.00 ~ Salty but fresh!

Chefs at work. More chefs means shorter wait.

The dinner crowd started to swell as we were about to leave.

Totaled at RM 42.00 which is consider reasonable but the saltiness of the dishes kinda kill it! Anyway, would like to give it another try the next time around but on different dishes.
