Goh Thew Chik Chicken Rice @ Chulia Street, Penang

Today is our last day in Penang so we wanted our kids to fill up their tummies before heading back to Kuala Lumpur. After we failed to locate Lam Hong Thai Hainanese Chicken Rice, we settled for this restaurant which was highly recommended by our friend, a local Penang lass. We were quite lucky to find a parking right in front of this restaurant as parking is a problem in the busy Chulia Street.
The restaurant was packed as we steeped in but again were rather lucky to find ourselves a table right beside the cashier. An old lady attended to us and told us that steamed chicken drumsticks ran out but we can have one if we order half a bird!

The lunch crowd really filled up the place and snapped up all the steamed chickens. Have to wait 30 minutes for the next batch of chicks to arrive!

GTC operates on two unit of shoplots. The steamed chicken stall is manned by GTC’s sucessor Mr. Goh See Wah and the roast chicken stall on the other shoplot is manned by another successor. To avoid the crowd, come around 1130 a.m.!

Steamed Chicken @ RM 12.00/half bird ~ Nicely steamed chicken meat with flavourful light soya sauce paired with the greasy fragrant rice makes it so appetizing!

Since we are not going for hawker’s food no more, we whacked and cleaned the plate of steamed chicken together with the chicken liver in just a short span of 10 minutes! Must be very hungry!

It’s true that behind every successful man like Mr. Goh See Wah there’s a woman and this woman is none other than Mrs. Goh. Say cheeze..

This meal costs us only RM 18.00 inclusive of 4 fragrant oiled rice and an ice Chinese tea. Won’t mind coming back when we crave for some chicken rice in Penang.
